Super Tape Gets Its “Stickiness” From Natural Idea

tape adhesive from thetapeworks.comResearchers at Northwestern University have taken the idea that lets a gecko scamper across the ceiling and applied it to adhesive development, creating a product that they call “super tape”.

Using a concept that resembles the split hairs on a gecko’s feet rather than something sticky like conventional tape, they have designed an adhesive that uses an electrical force to generate molecular attraction.

Tests of the tape, which resembles scotch tape, have allowed a full grown man to be suspended over the floor using a piece of tape only eight inches square.
