Can Tape Replace Sutures?

Engineers at MIT have developed a tape that they hope can replace surgical sutures.

Unlike tape that is used for closing surface wounds, this new tape works almost instantly on wet surfaces, meaning that it can be used in surgical procedures which currently require stitches.

This new procedure is less stressful to damaged tissue and thus can promote healing.
