Self-amalgamating Tape-What Is That?

It turns out that the popular self-fusing silicone repair tape actually has a fancy name. Self amalgamating tape is what it is called.

This non-sticky silicone rubber tape is activated by stretching and as it contracts it bonds to itself, creating a solid layer of fused vinyl.

This makes it especially useful for electrical insulation and plumbing repairs where the pressure is not too high.

Other names for this tape are ‘Rescue Tape”, “Fix It Tape” and “Tommy Tape”.
